Gray Leadbetter was just two years old when she discovered speed in a battery-powered 4-wheeler. By age three, she was blasting through the woods on a Yamaha PW50 motorcycle. Gray began competing in arena cross at just five years old, making the natural progression into karts. It wasn’t long before she found herself competing behind the wheel of UTVs and Mini-Outlaw Sprints, meeting Swedish rally driver Patrick Sandell along the way.
She trained with Sandell on the frozen lakes of Sweden, then returned to the U.S. and attended the Bondurant School with 2004 Indy 500 Champion Buddy Rice whom she continues to train with.
Gray made the move to professional racing in 2019, signing with Dreyer-Reinbold Racing to drive in the American Rallycross series at 14. In 2020 she made history as the youngest driver and first woman to win a Championship Off-Road SXS race then in 2022 signed with Ryan Beat Motorsports.
Since assuming driving duties in the No. 28 PRO-SPEC, Gray has been leading the way for women drivers everywhere. In her first year of PRO-SPEC, she claimed four wins and the inaugural championship, the first female to win a championship in Champ Off-Road history. Gray returns the No. 28 in 2025 and looks to make history again in the PRO-LITE class.
